West Central Texas – West Central Texas had a chilly 3 degrees Sunday morning, one of the coldest days this winter. Residents faced a frost-covered landscape as temperatures dropped dramatically overnight.
According to the National Weather Service, the minimum temperature reached 3° around 9 am, creating dangerous conditions for those venturing out. Officials advised residents to limit outdoor contact and take precautions to protect pets and livestock from cold temperatures.
Emergency management teams remain on standby, and warming centers remain open for those in need. Local officials also urged drivers to be cautious on icy roads, as black ice poses a significant hazard in many counties.
Meteorologists predict that the temperature will gradually increase towards the end of the day, but cold conditions will persist till the morning. Residents should continue to monitor weather updates and prepare for prolonged cold as the week progresses.
This unseasonably cold weather comes amid widespread concerns about extreme temperature fluctuations across the region. West Central Texas has already faced numerous winter challenges this season, with power outages and freezing rain complicating daily life.
