Little Rock, AR – A cold weather advisory warns central and northern Arkansas residents to prepare for wind chills below zero. From midnight to 10 am on Sunday, the temperature may drop to minus 3 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service, advisories include cities like Mountain Home, Harrison and Jasper. Extreme cold can cause frostbite on exposed skin within minutes and increase the risk of hypothermia. Such low wind chill is rare and dangerous for outdoor activities.
Residents should wear layered clothing, gloves and a hat when traveling outside. It is strongly recommended to keep pets indoors during cold weather. Those at higher elevations, such as Newton and Searcy counties, may face the most severe impacts.
The advisory highlights the need to exercise caution during travel and outdoor activities. Officials encourage residents to take precautions for the safety of themselves and their pets.
This cold weather pattern is a reminder of the dangers associated with extreme temperatures.
