Chicago’s Most Dangerous Neighborhoods

According to SouthWest Journal, Chicago, which has a population of 2,746,388, is a thriving, large metropolis with a lot to offer. The Windy City is well-known for its high rates of violent crime, nevertheless.

Chicago is generally 67% riskier than the rest of the US. With gun violence being particularly common, both violent and property crimes pose serious problems.

Top 10 of Chicago’s Most Dangerous Neighborhoods

Park Washington

According to Property Club, Washington Park is the most hazardous neighborhood in Chicago. The rate of violent crime in this Chicago’s Most Dangerous Neighborhoods is 701% greater than the national average. 12,707 people call Washington Park home and the overall crime rate there is 297% greater than the national average.

Garfield Park West

West Garfield Park is one of Chicago’s most dangerous neighborhoods as well. West Garfield Park, which is on the South Side of Chicago, has a disproportionately high violent crime rate. Residents in West Garfield Park have a 1 in 20 chance of becoming victims of a violent crime because violence there is 257% higher than it is elsewhere in the city.

North Lawndale

North Lawndale is another one of Chicago’s Most Dangerous Neighborhoods. North Lawndale was a growing and developing neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side, but it was greatly affected by the 2008 recession.

South Coast

South Shore, a neighborhood in Chicago’s south side with a population of 54,000, is well-known for its Great Lakes beaches. In South Shore, there are 7,573 crimes committed per 100,000 residents.
