Empress Ambulance Service Agrees to $1.05 Million Settlement After Cyberattack
A settlement has been reached in a matter concerning Empress Ambulance Service, also known as Empress EMS, due to a cyberattack that occurred in July 2022 and resulted in the theft of personal information. Those who were impacted were notified of it. They claimed that with stronger computer security, the ambulance service might have prevented the hack. They claimed that because the business was careless, hackers were able to get sensitive information about patients. The ambulance service agreed to pay $1.05 million to resolve the dispute, although not acknowledging any wrongdoing.

Claims Deadline Approaching for Empress Ambulance Cyberattack Settlement, Verizon Subscribers Also Eligible for Compensation
You may request money from the settlement if Empress Ambulance Service notified you about the cyberattack. The deadline for completing a form with your information, including the unique ID number you received in the notice, is May 8. You may be eligible for reimbursement for expenses incurred due to the data breach in relation to credit concerns or theft-related matters. You can request payment in cash if you would prefer not to have that. Additionally, Verizon consented to pay $1 million to individuals who were their mobile subscribers and paid specific fees between 2016 and 2023 in a case involving those individuals. This settlement may pay you up to $100, but you must complete out a form to be eligible by April 15.
