Filing Federal Tax Return and Deadlines

According to the Telegraph, the end of the federal tax return is April 15, 2024. However, if you are unable to file before the deadline, you can file for an extension and it will give you an additional six months until October 15, 2024, to submit a complete federal tax return.

Regardless, if you do not owe taxes or you expect a refund, you can file a late return without an extension and you may not owe a penalty. But if you owe taxes, you may be charged a fine for filing late.
