Incident that Involves the Hit-and-Run Driver Raises Crossing Guards Concern to the Community
According to Snap News, Theresa Pesantes, a woman who has lived in North Bergen, where the hit-and-run driver was involved in the incident, stated that there had been a staffing shortage in the community and that the crossing guards were moved to a busier intersection.
However, due to the hit-and-run driver injuring a kid, Public Safety and the Traffic Division had been trying hard to hire and train the crossing guards with the township-allocated funds. Currently, they have 58 crossing guards in most intersections and stated that busy intersections must not be left unmanned.
The incident involving the hit-and-run driver had shed light on the North Bergen’s lack of staff when it comes to crossing guards.
