Mauritson Farm Finally Settles Labor Case with State?
An enormous winery in Healdsburg, California has agreed to pay over $300,000 in lost wages to 21 agricultural workers following an unfair labor practice.
In the complaint by Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB), agricultural workers were not rehired after they raised concerns regarding the following:
- transportation
- unsanitized bathrooms
- continues work hours
- barely having breaks, and
- the unfair treatment by the foreman, Juan Lopez.
Thus, California Agricultural Labor Relations Board has demanded a settlement of $328,077 with Mauritson Farms for the agricultural workers who have been treated poorly. In which the company did not respond to a request for comment.
The California Agricultural Labor Relations Board will be holding a press conference on Monday at 4:30 in the afternoon at the Plaza of Healdsburg located at Healdsburg Avenue and Matheson Street Healdsburg. The agricultural worker leader, Margarita Garcia, and Representatives from ARLB, the North Bay Jobs with Justice coalition of labor and community groups will attend the aforementioned conference.
