Courtney O’Donnell has been chosen by the Democratic president to represent the United States at the Paris-based UNESCO, according to a White House official who spoke on the record Monday under the condition of anonymity to discuss the nomination ahead of a public announcement.

O’Donnell, a candidate for the position of United States ambassador, currently holds two positions: senior adviser to Harris and acting chief of staff for Emhoff. She contributes her expertise to a number of national and international issues, including gender equity and addressing anti-Semitism, a top concern for Emhoff, who is Jewish.
O’Donnell, a candidate for United States ambassador, served as Jill Biden’s communications director when she served as Joe Biden’s vice president and Barack Obama was in office. O’Donnell assisted Jill Biden in promoting community colleges and bringing attention and support to American military families.
