Bronny James, a college basketball player and the star of the Los Angeles Lakers has a congenital heart defect but is anticipated to fully recover from the heart attack he experienced on July 24.
Bronny James Diagnosed With a Congenital Heart Defect
As per the report of CNN, according to his family’s statement on Friday, Bronny James, the elder son of NBA star LeBron James, should fully recover from his cardiac arrest last month despite having a congenital heart defect.
The 18-year-old was hospitalized in July after going into cardiac arrest at a University of Southern California basketball session. A few days later, he was released and allowed to heal at home.
According to his relatives, medical professionals found the “probable cause” of his cardiac arrest.

A Statement Released By The James Family Regarding The Congenital Heart Defect Diagnosis of Bronny James
According to the report of Black Enterprise, the James family provided an update on his condition in a statement to People Magazine: “After a thorough initial evaluation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center under the direction of Dr. Merije Chukumerije and follow-up evaluations at the Mayo Clinic under the direction of Dr. Michael J. Ackerman and the Atlantic Health/Morristown Medical Center under the direction of Dr. Matthew W. Martinez, the probable cause of Mr. James’ sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) has been identified.”
The statement goes on to clarify that James’s major congenital heart defect, a condition that is treatable, is what caused his cardiac arrest.
James was released to his parents’ custody and was at home relaxing on July 27, according to a website update from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
