Indiana DCS Expresses Sorrow Over Dakota Stevens’ Tragic Death
Dakota Stevens had been in foster care for several years because his parents struggled with drug addiction, which led to his father’s death. He lived with his aunt for a year, who said he brought a lot of joy to others. However, the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) took Dakota and his sister from their aunt and put them back in state care. His sister was adopted, but Dakota moved between different foster families. The Indiana DCS expressed deep sadness over Dakota Stevens’s death, saying, “Our entire staff is heartbroken by this news. DCS works with partners across the state to investigate the death of a child when there is suspected abuse or neglect and will take the appropriate action.” No one has been arrested for Dakota Stevens’s death, and the investigation is still ongoing.
