Arlington police responded to a report from 23-year-old Edgar Ipina, who claimed he was robbed and fired shots at the suspect during a coin sale gone wrong near Parks Mall. Ipina alleged that after displaying rare coins to a potential buyer, the buyer grabbed them and ran off. In response, Ipina shot at the fleeing suspect, who escaped in a car. Ipina was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as investigations suggested the buyer was unarmed and posed no direct threat, according to the report of Fox 4 News.

The buyer, identified as 34-year-old Booker Ross, matching the suspect’s description was found at a Fort Worth hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Police intend to book Ross on theft charges once medically cleared. The shooting did not cause any additional injuries or disruptions at the mall, according to authorities. The incident highlights the risks of online marketplace transactions and the importance of safety precautions.
