According to the published article in Politico, Mayor Eric Adams said he’ll spend over $100 million to protect programs for kids, going back on some unpopular budget choices. He wants to restore $20 million for longer hours in the Summer Rising program and save $32 million for other programs paid for with temporary COVID-19 funds. He’ll also give $75 million to schools facing budget cuts because fewer kids are enrolling.

Some people like Brooklyn State Senator Zellnor Myrie and former Comptroller Scott Stringer are against Mayor Eric Adams’s budget decisions. They say he’s cutting too much money from important things like schools and libraries. Mayor Eric Adams is changing his mind on some cuts he made before, but some problems, like cuts to preschool programs, are still there.
