Aspen’s City Council decided to give more money back to people who buy food. They raised the amount from $65 to $85 to help residents with their expenses. This is part of a plan to encourage people to support a sales tax vote by giving them back the money they pay in taxes for groceries, according to the published article of Aspen Times.
If you live in Aspen and want the Food Tax Refund you need to act fast. The deadline to apply is April 15th at 5 p.m. To qualify you must have lived in Aspen for all of 2023 and been registered to vote there from January 1st to December 31st, 2023. You also need to prove where you lived during 2023.

If you need help filling out the application, you can go to City Hall’s second floor Finance window. Remember, the city won’t accept applications after the deadline.
