Housing Project Rallying Behind Affordable Housing Solutions
People like David Edwards Jr., who grew up in the Third Ward think this housing project is really important. It means more than just building houses. It means giving people a chance for better jobs and a stable place to live in neighborhoods where not many people own their homes. It’s going to cost around $2.81 million for homes in the Third Ward, $3.48 million in Settegast, and $280,000 in South Union. This housing project could bring new life to these communities. Many locals like Al Porter who’s lived in South Union for a long time support this housing project idea. They think it’s really important to have affordable homes in the area. Right now, the housing project is being checked to make sure it’s good for the environment. People have 15 days to share their thoughts about it. If nobody disagrees the city can ask HUD for the money to make it happen. This could be a big step in making sure everyone in Houston has a chance to have a good place to live.
