Haitian Families Make Up Majority in Overcrowded Massachusetts Emergency Shelters Waiting List Grows
According to Washington Examiner, Last week Bruce Tarr who leads a group in the Massachusetts Senate asked to help local families first before new immigrants in emergency housing. But the Massachusetts Senate mostly run by Democrats said no. Many families in Massachusetts need shelter but the system is full. Half of the families already there are from other countries mainly Haiti. There are also nearly 730 families waiting for help.

The rejection by the Massachusetts Senate of prioritizing local families over immigrants in emergency shelter highlights a problem. Taxpayers cover immigrants’ hotel stays while locals face homelessness driving up hotel prices. Massachusetts Senate haven’t changed this despite hurting the state’s finances and cutting services like fire departments. The Massachusetts Senate needs to prioritize its own people to solve these problems effectively.
