Idaho Legislature Passes $2 Billion Plan to Upgrade School Buildings

Concerns Remain Over Funding Idaho’s Equity in School Infrastructure Plan

Funding Idaho’s schools, the state Legislature has approved a big $2 billion plan to fix old buildings, according to the published article of Pro Publica. This happened after a report showed how bad conditions were for students. Governor Brad Little made this a big goal after seeing the report. The plan will give money to districts based on how many students they have. But some people say this might not be enough to fix all the problems.

Critics say the plan might not solve everything. They worry that rural areas might not get enough money. Also, the state hasn’t checked on school buildings for a long time so it’s hard to know how much fixing is really needed. Lawmakers say even with this money and schools will still need to ask for more from their communities.
