Bipartisan Senate Vote Upholds Inclusion in $460 Billion Spending Plan
In a big group decision both Republican and Democratic senators voted together against a proposal to get rid of earmark spending in the government funding bill. This proposal came from Senator Rick Scott of Florida and was part of a $460 billion spending plan to prevent a government shutdown. Despite the urgent need to pass the bill and senators voted 64 to 32 against Scott’s idea showing that earmark spending is likely going to stick around.

Bipartisan Senate Rejects Scott’s Proposal to Delay Spending Bill Over Earmarks
According to Washington Times, Scott’s idea was to delay the spending bill to remove earmarks but senators from both parties didn’t agree. Scott said earmarks waste money on personal projects instead of important government stuf but others argued that these projects are important for different communities. This vote shows that even though both parties don’t always agree and they came together in a bipartisan vote on this issue. Earmarks will probably keep being a hot topic as Congress works on more spending bills.
