A residence fire in Flint Township, Michigan, killed 43-year-old Angela Craig early Saturday, February 3. The incident included a man in custody, 31-year-old Chad Egan, who faces charges related to the tragic fire.
Man in Custody After Leading to Tragic House Fire
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said the incident began when Flint Township Police responded to a disturbance complaint from Angela Craig telling them Egan was beating on her door and refusing to leave. Egan left the area once the police arrived. Craig could not be reached after the encounter.
A house fire was reported at Craig’s home one hour later. Angela Craig died from smoke inhalation inside the residence. The fire also killed Craig’s pet cat and dog.
Chad Egan was arrested after investigations. Investigators found surveillance footage showed Egan near Craig’s home before and after the fire. The camera showed lighter lighting before Egan left and the fire started.
