Rep. Martin Causer, R-Turtlepoint, will again organize Property Tax/Rent Rebate assistance Clinics to help needy people. Kane’s clinics will open next week, making this critical service easily accessible.
Property Tax/Rent Rebate Assistance
Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m., Causer’s office will be at the Kane Senior Center on 100 N. Fraley St. The service is free and does not need appointments.
Seniors and disabled people benefit from the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Assistance Program, Rep. Causer said. The income qualifying restrictions and maximum refund amount have increased this year, making more people eligible for help.
The state has boosted homeowner and renter income qualifying restrictions to $45,000, requiring people to omit 50% of Social Security. From $650 to $1,000, the maximum refund has increased. The program benefits 65-year-olds, 50-year-old widows and widowers, and 18-year-old disabled people.
