The Associated Press announced Biden’s win immediately after the polls closed with 50% of the vote. SC will hold the first official Democratic primary on February 3 after the DNC reordered the primaries. Democrats in the state coordinated the write-in attempt.
Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips and self-help expert Marianne Williamson challenged Biden, who was not on the ballot owing to New Hampshire’s legislation and Republican-led government. Biden led with 61% of the vote, followed by Phillips with 21% and Williamson with 4.4%.
Biden thanked the write-in campaign and stressed the importance of the approaching elections and the difficulties confronting democracy, personal liberties, and the economy. At a Manchester watch party, Phillips pledged to continue his Biden challenge, praising his 10-week campaign’s success.

Dean Phillips’ Quixotic Bid and Ongoing Challenges
Phillips, a 54-year-old lawmaker and one of Congress’ richest declared his candidacy in October, worried about Biden’s chances against Trump in a general election rematch. The write-in campaign was called “obnoxious,” but Phillips won 20% and promised to take his campaign to South Carolina and Michigan.
Biden won the New Hampshire primary despite mixed reactions from voters, some of whom were disappointed by his absence from the ballot and others who supported his leadership. After finishing sixth in the 2020 New Hampshire Democratic primary, the president won in Nevada and South Carolina.
The Democratic primaries show how difficult politics is since people and politicians have different views. Despite his victory, Biden faces internal party criticism, showing the fluidity of the electoral process.
