Butte County Drug Deal Turns Deadly – 2 Florida Brothers Killed, Bodies Hidden by Convicts
According to True Crime News, Austin Hogan, a 25-year-old man, has been sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for his part in the 2020 murders of 2 Florida brothers, Jerry Bonds, 39, and Randy Bonds, 33, during a drug deal in rural Butte County, California. Hogan, along with two other men, Kyle Smith and Michael Griff, tricked the 2 Florida brothers into coming to California to buy marijuana. After the 2 Florida brothers went missing, it was discovered that Hogan and Griff had shot them and hidden their bodies in a wooded area. The group was later seen on camera at a Reno casino after the murders, which led to their arrests.

Victims’ Families Express Deep Pain as Convicts Receive Lengthy Sentences in 2020 Murder Case
During Hogan’s sentencing, the 2 Florida brothers’ families shared the deep pain and loss they have felt since the murders, especially because Jerry and Randy missed many important family events. Hogan’s testimony helped convict Smith, who also received a sentence of over 30 years to life in prison. The third accomplice, Griff, was sentenced to 50 years to life after admitting to the murders earlier this year.
