Steps to Recover Stolen EBT/SNAP Benefits in Montgomery County

According to the WDTN 2 News, many residents have said their EBT/SNAP benefits were stolen due to fraud. The Montgomery County Job and Family Services (JFS) confirmed that there has been an increase in benefits being stolen electronically in Montgomery County and other areas. This problem affects people who get EBT, SNAP, or cash benefits.

If you are affected, you should contact your local agency to get a new card. Residents in Montgomery County need to call the JFS investigation and recovery unit at 937-225-6035 to start the process of getting their benefits replaced. Ohio now has a way to replace benefits that were stolen electronically, and victims must apply for replacement benefits and request a new EBT card through their county agency.

How to Protect Your EBT/SNAP Benefits from Fraud: Steps to Take Immediately

The Dayton Police Department has also received reports of EBT fraud. If your benefits were stolen, change your PIN and file a theft report with your local police department right away. To request a new card, SNAP users can call 1-866-386-3071, and cash users can call 1-866-320-8822. The ConnectEBT app has a CardLock feature that lets clients lock their card when not using it, and it’s suggested to re-lock the card after making a purchase.
