According to True Crime News, former police officer Miles Bryant 23 has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for kidnapping and murdering 16-year-old Susana Morales in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Bryant’s conviction on charges including malice murder felony murder kidnapping and making false reports to law enforcement. Morales disappeared in July 2022 while walking home from a friend’s house prompting a large-scale community search. Her whereabouts remained unknown until February 2023 when human remains found near the Barrow County line were identified as hers.

The investigation took a critical turn when Bryant who was employed as a police officer with the Doraville Police Department at the time was linked to Morales’ disappearance and death. Initially facing charges of attempting to conceal a death and filing false reports Bryant’s legal troubles escalated significantly with the addition of kidnapping and murder charges. Law enforcement authorities recovered Bryant’s firearm near Morales’ remains a weapon he had reported stolen shortly after her disappearance. Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson strongly condemned Bryant’s actions particularly emphasizing the breach of trust inherent in his former role as a law enforcement officer. She extended heartfelt sympathies to the Morales family underscoring that Bryant’s conduct starkly contrasts with the integrity and dedication exemplified by the majority of police officers.
