Lawsuit Alleges Amazon Violated California Work Laws by Signing Bonus Distribution

According to the article in The US Sun, Amazon agreed to pay $3 million for not paying its California employees overtime properly. California employees who got a signing bonus while working overtime might get about $565 each. This happened because of a lawsuit saying Amazon didn’t follow California’s work laws when giving out bonuses.

Amazon California Employees Eligible for Settlement – No Action Required by June 17 to Receive Compensation

The lawsuit covers Amazon California employees who got a bonus and worked overtime between July 22, 2017, and Nov. 7, 2023. California employees don’t need to do anything to get the money if they don’t want to exclude themselves by June 17. Amazon hasn’t said it did anything wrong, but it’s still paying the money to settle the issue. Another case involves Maryland MarketSource, saying they didn’t follow the rules for background checks, with people having until June 9 to say they don’t want to be part of it.
