In Eugene, Oregon, Senator Wyden is championing a mission to extend the Child Care Tax Credit aiming to support low-income families enhance access to affordable housing and boost small businesses. Joined by Head Start Lane County Executive Director Charleen Strauch and other local leaders Wyden emphasized the critical need for this extension during a recent press conference. Strauch highlighted how the child care tax credit has provided vital assistance to around 1,000 impoverished families in Lane County enabling them to afford both rent and food thereby offering a lifeline for those facing tough choices between basic necessities.

One beneficiary, Lizz Rock a disabled single mother, shared her story of reliance on the Child Care Tax Credit to secure safe housing for her two children. Despite her efforts to work full time and contribute to society, Rock faced challenges accessing rental assistance due to income restrictions illustrating the complexities low income families endure. Senator Wyden underscored the urgency of extending the tax credit emphasizing its role in alleviating immediate financial burdens for struggling families and ensuring a fair shot for all. His proposed legislation seeks to increase the maximum credit amount adjust for inflation and make the credit refundable to benefit low income households aiming to improve the lives of millions across the nation.
