According to DC Witness, In court on April 2nd Demonte Gibson aged 26 faced serious charges linked to a shooting. He bravely asked to test DNA evidence himself in front of Judge Jason Park. The charges include hurting someone while trying to rob them, having guns during a violent crime, and other crimes. They’re from an incident on December 7, 2021 where someone got hurt on Fairmont Street.

The prosecution says Gibson shot the victim during a robbery but the victim says he didn’t see or hear anything. Gibson’s lawyer, Rachel Cicurel said he wants to test the DNA evidence. The prosecution showed items found at the scene like guns and bullet casings. Gibson’s team needs time to check the DNA evidence before deciding what to test. Judge Park picked May 24th for Gibson’s next DNA evidence hearing. Both sides are getting ready for a tough fight in court hoping to prove what really happened that day and what should happen to Gibson.
