So some smart folks like State Senator Chris Belt and fire chiefs came up with a plan. They made a new rule called the Volunteer Emergency Worker Tax Credit. It gives volunteer firefighters a $500 discount on their taxes. Over 3,000 firefighters have already got this discount. It’s a way to say thanks to them for their hard work and bravery.
