Opill got approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in July and now it’s available for sale online. Soon, it will also be in big stores like CVS and Walgreens.

Opill costs $20 for one month or $90 for six months with insurance coverage varying. Perrigo the manufacturer, also plans a three-month supply for $50. Taken daily at the same time, Opill contains only progestin not estrogen. While not safe for those with breast cancer history, the FDA approves Opill’s effectiveness, though it may cause headaches or nausea. Despite concerns, Opill’s availability marks progress in women’s health birth control accessibility nationwide.
