In Maine, many schools are now giving out free lunches to all students but because of this some schools are having trouble figuring out which students need extra help according to CentralMaine. Parents had to fill out forms to show if they needed free or cheap lunches for their kids. But now, fewer parents are filling out these forms because all lunches are free.

The Success of Community Eligibility Provision in Ensuring Free School Lunches for All
One way some schools are dealing with this is by joining a program called Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). With CEP schools in poor areas can give free lunches to everyone without needing forms from parents. This helps schools make sure all kids get to eat and it takes away the stress for families who worry about sharing their financial information. It’s a big change but it’s helping lots of kids get the food they need at school.
