Maryland State Encourages Residents to Explore Tax Relief Options Amid Rising Property Costs

Maryland Launches 2024 Tax Credit Awareness Campaign to Provide Relief for Homeowners and Renters

The Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation has kicked off its 2023 Tax Credit Awareness Campaign, urging folks in Maryland if they are qualify for homeowners property tax credits.  Importance of these programs in helping Marylanders dealing with high property taxes income. The Homeowners Property Tax Credit Program sets a limit on property taxes based on income offering much needed relief. Residents who paid their property taxes can still apply for the 2024 Tax credit.

The Renters Property Tax Credit Program offers 2024 tax credits to eligible renters facing high monthly rent compared to their income with direct check payments of up to $1,000 annually. Renters can apply online, with the department also sending out postcards to inform eligible renters who have not yet applied.
