Portland Press Herald – The Portland Sea Dogs, a baseball team in Maine, want to upgrade their stadium, Hadlock Field. They need about $8 million to $10 million for this. They are asking the government for help. The government might give them a tax credit of up to $1 million. The upgrades include making a better clubhouse, adding batting cages and improving other facilities. But some people are not happy about using public money for a sports team. They think the team should pay for it themselves.

Sea Dogs’ Commitment to Maine Hinges on Meeting MLB Standards
The Sea Dogs say they won’t leave Maine as long as they meet the requirements of Major League Baseball. They have been playing in Portland since 1994 and have a good relationship with the city. The government will decide whether to help them after a public hearing on March 14.
