According to RoadSnacks, it was found that Brattleboro emerged as the most dangerous city in Vermont among the 23 cities examined while Barre Town was identified as the safest. The violent crime rate in Vermont was recorded at 489 incidents per 100,000 people with a property crime rate of 6,094 per 100,000 people. Vermont ranks as the 48th most dangerous state in the United States.

Vermont 10 Cities with Highest Crime Rates

Brattleboro

Brattleboro is the most dangerous place in Vermont. It has lots of crime especially stealing things and breaking into homes. So, people there need to be extra careful with their belongings and consider getting good security systems.

Winooski

Winooski near Burlington isn’t very safe either. There are still a lot of crimes happening there like murder and robbery. People should lock their doors tight to stay safe from burglaries.

St. Albans

St. Albans is another risky place to live. Violence there has gone up recently meaning there’s a higher chance of getting hurt or robbed. Even though property crime has decreased a bit folks still need to watch out for their stuff.

Rutland

Rutland the third biggest city in Vermont. There’s a good chance of getting attacked there. Burglaries happen often so people should be careful even when visiting places like the Norman Rockwell Museum.

Burlington

Burlington the biggest city in Vermont isn’t as safe as you might think. There are more crimes happening there like murder and robbery. People should keep a close eye on their things especially when out shopping.

Bennington

Bennington in the southwest of the state isn’t very safe either. There’s a lot of violent crime happening there and burglaries are common too. People should be cautious especially near places like the Bennington Battle Monument.

St. Johnsbury

St. Johnsbury, in the northeast has its share of crime too. There’s a lot of robbery and burglary happening there. Even though it’s a rural area people should still be careful.

Barre

Barre near Montpelier isn’t very safe either. There’s a lot of violent crime happening there especially assaults. People should be cautious especially women.

South Burlington

South Burlington has a high rate of property crime, like theft. But violent crime is lower there compared to other places on the list. People there should keep an eye on their stuff especially near big malls and companies like Ben and Jerry’s.

Montpelier

Montpelier the capital of Vermont isn’t very safe either. There’s a lot of car theft and other crimes happening there. People should be cautious especially when out and about.
