Northampton County to Offer Assistance for Property Tax/Rent Rebate Applications

Northampton County residents aged 65 and above, widows and widowers who are 50 years old and above, and individuals with disabilities who are 18 years old and above can receive assistance filling out Pennsylvania Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) applications. The PTRR program offers eligible homeowners and renters a rebate of up to $1,000, and the household income limit has been raised to $45,000 annually.

To help senior residents of Northampton County take advantage of the rebates, the Northampton County Area Agency on Aging and the Department of Revenue are providing free assistance at four locations in March. Here’s how you can get help with your PTRR application:

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility
Before applying for the PTRR program, you must meet the eligibility criteria. To be eligible, you must be a Northampton County resident who is 65 years old and above, a widow or widower who is 50 years old and above, or an individual with disabilities who is 18 years old and above. Complete eligibility guidelines are available on the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue website.

Step 2: Choose a Date and Location
The Northampton County Area Agency on Aging and the Department of Revenue are providing free assistance to county residents on the following dates and locations:
– Thursday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Park Plaza Senior Community Center, 1800 Sullivan Trail, Forks Township (610-829-3201)
– Wednesday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Cherryville Senior Center, 4131 Lehigh Drive, Lehigh Township (610-767-2977)
– Friday, March 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Slate Belt Senior Citizen Center, 707 American Bangor Rd., Washington Township (610-588-1224)
– (If there are enough requests, hours may be added on Monday, March 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Slate Belt Senior Citizen Center)
– Thursday, March 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Northampton Senior Citizen Center, 902 Lincoln Ave., Northampton (610-262-4977)

Step 3: Get Free Assistance
Once you have chosen a date and location that works for you, the Northampton County Area Agency on Aging and the Department of Revenue will provide free assistance in completing your PTRR application. This service is available to all eligible Northampton County residents.

Step 4: Submit Your Application
After completing your PTRR application, you must submit it by June 30 to be considered for the rebate. If extra funds become available, the deadline will be extended to December 31. Make sure to submit your application on time to take advantage of this opportunity.

This expansion will make around 3,700 senior Northampton County residents eligible for the PTRR program. Take advantage of this opportunity to receive up to $1,000 in rebates. Get free assistance with your PTRR application today.
