Pontiac, Michigan – The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department urgently appeals to the public for information following a fatal shooting at a Pontiac strip mall. The incident, occurring on Sunday around 4 p.m., resulted in the death of 27-year-old Json Markell Hunt and critical injuries to a 25-year-old man. As investigators work to unravel the circumstances, Sheriff Michael Bouchard emphasizes the need for community assistance to bring those responsible to justice.

Tragic Incident Unfolds at W. Huron Street Strip Mall

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department responds to reports of shots fired at a strip mall on W. Huron Street in Pontiac. Upon arrival, deputies discover a 25-year-old victim in the parking lot, who claims to have been shot by an unknown assailant. The victim indicates that his cousin, 27-year-old Json Markell Hunt, is also shot and remains inside the mall.

Efforts to save the victims are underway as deputies administer first aid to the wounded 25-year-old, transported to McLaren Oakland Hospital in critical condition. Tragically, Json Markell Hunt succumbs to an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Sheriff’s deputies secure the premises, launching an investigation involving detectives and crime lab personnel.

Sheriff Michael Bouchard urgently appeals to the public for information, stating, “We could use the public’s help on this. If anyone has information about who may have been present or involved, please contact us or Crime Stoppers.”

The public is asked to help bring those guilty to justice and provide the families of the victims closure while the inquiry progresses.
