Senator Joe Manchin, a Democratic centrist from West Virginia, pledged to never vote for former President Donald Trump in 2024 in a Face the Nation interview with CBS anchor Margaret Brennan. He also hinted at a White House run later in the year.
Manchin’s Bold Stand
Manchin criticized President Joe Biden and highlighted his attempts to reform the government in the interview. Despite his disagreements with Biden, the senator said his passion for the country drove his choice to never back Trump.
Manchin refused to support Trump but was evasive about his presidential ambitions. The departing lawmaker’s association with the nonpartisan group No Labels in recent months has raised talk about a presidential candidacy on a third-party ticket.
“I’m going to do everything I can to save my country, and I’ll do whatever it takes,” Manchin said when asked about running for president.

Bridging Divides with Centrist Leadership for America’s Future
He pledged to assist anybody who shares his objective of returning the country to a “common sense, sensible middle,” highlighting the need for centrist leadership that crosses center-left and center-right beliefs.
Manchin’s words highlight the difficulties of managing a fractured political atmosphere and the rising appeal of moderate viewpoints in a divided nation as he considers his role in 2024. Manchin’s political trajectory will shape the 2019 election, whether he stays a key Democratic Party figure or runs for president.
