Financial Help for Michigan Families
Around 700,000 families in Michigan are getting good news – they will receive extra money. This is because the Working Families Tax Credit has increased from 6% to 30% on 2022 refunds. On average, families will get checks of about $550, giving them a financial boost.

Governor Whitmer is Happy About It
Michigan’s Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, is excited about this extra help for families. She says it will bring much-needed relief to families even earlier than expected. The new tax credit is especially helpful for half of Michigan’s children, easing financial struggles for many households.
Checks Coming Soon
Starting from February 13, families will begin to receive the extra money. The distribution of checks will happen over five to six weeks, making sure families get the support they need on time. Governor Whitmer wants families to know they can use this money for important things like bills, food, and school supplies.
Easy Process for Families
Families don’t need to do anything extra to get this money. The Michigan Department of Treasury will find the families who qualify and send them the checks. This simple process ensures that families get the help they deserve without dealing with a lot of paperwork.
