The deadline for the federal tax return is on the 31st of January 2024. By then, you need to submit your federal tax return relating to the tax year from 2022 to 2023 tax year. However, if you have not yet started, do not fret – here’s a guide to navigate your federal tax return and avoid late fines.
Filing Federal Tax Return and Deadlines
According to the Telegraph, the end of the federal tax return is April 15, 2024. However, if you are unable to file before the deadline, you can file for an extension and it will give you an additional six months until October 15, 2024, to submit a complete federal tax return.
Regardless, if you do not owe taxes or you expect a refund, you can file a late return without an extension and you may not owe a penalty. But if you owe taxes, you may be charged a fine for filing late.
