USS Vicksburg CG 69 is one of the ships that has not sailed for more than six years. Diana Maurer stated that spending taxpayers’s money is unacceptable as the ship may never sail again.
Why is the USS Vicksburg CG 69 a Waste of Money?
According to Yahoo News, the USS Vicksburg CG 69 has been idling at a shipyard in Norfolk, Virginia. The USS Vicksburg CG 69 is said to have been undergoing repair for more than half a decade and has cost millions of dollars of hundreds of taxpayers.
According to Diana Maurer, the money of taxpayers going to the repairs for the USS Vicksburg CG 69 was truly unacceptable and a waste of money. Maurer reasoned that the money of the taxpayers shouldn’t go on a ship that is not modernized and is currently not sailing and may never sail again.

USS Vicksburg CG 69 Highlights the Navy’s Struggle to Modernize
According to NBC News, USS Vicksburg CG 69 is one of the oldest ships of the US Navy that was launched in the ’90s. Thus, the costly and long repairs of the ship highlighted the struggle of the US Navy to modernize its fleet compared to China which seeks naval supremacy in the Pacific.
Currently, the Nav has a goal of 355 ships but has maintained a fleet of 170-300 battle force ships. $175 million was spent on the USS Vicksburg CG 69 to modernize the ship and maintain it.
