Drinking plenty of water and maintaining your range of healthy blood pressure are two bits of health advice that you undoubtedly hear from your doctor frequently. Your general health depends on both staying hydrated and maintaining your range of healthy blood pressure, but they’re also related.

How Dehydration Affects the Range of Healthy Blood Pressure

In a recent article published by Men’s Health, when you lose so much fluid that your body is unable to operate normally, you become dehydrated. According to family doctor Kim Yu, M.D., drinking water and being hydrated prevents this from occurring and aids in maintaining the range of healthy blood pressure.

Your range of healthy blood pressure may fluctuate as a result of dehydration. Oral Waldo, M.D., a cardiologist at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center and Good Samaritan Medical Center, notes that it can both raise and drop your blood pressure, depending on how dehydrated you are, how long you’ve been dehydrated, and whether you have any other medical concerns.

Dr. Waldo emphasizes the significance of drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day. It maintains blood circulation so that it can effectively transport nutrients and oxygen throughout your body.

“Range of healthy blood pressure fluctuations can be potentially dangerous because they can affect other organs such as the brain, kidneys, and heart, among others,” the doctor warns.

Maintaining the Range of Healthy Blood Pressure Through Drinking Water

As per the report of Very Well Health, unless you are severely dehydrated, drinking water can help stabilize your blood pressure without necessarily lowering it. Because 90% of your blood is water, dehydration will result in a reduction in total blood volume. When this occurs, the body will react by constricting the blood vessels, which will raise the normal range of healthy blood pressure.

Even though drinking water is not a “treatment” for high blood pressure, staying hydrated by drinking six to eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day may when combined with other health practices, help you keep your range of healthy blood pressure under control.
