Mayor Adams Ending Sex Work Fails
Based on the released report from the New York Post, Mayor Eric Adams promised to put an end to the “Market of Sweethearts” during a late-night visit, but it hasn’t happened yet, and he will be up against the progressives the whole time. The numerous barely dressed streetwalkers shamelessly approaching male bystanders on streets crowded with children, shoppers, and legitimate business owners have locals in a rage. Brothels advertise on YouTube and even hire children to hand out flyers. “The police take no action at all!” yelled Anna Garcia, a store employee selling cell phones. Because the lawmakers demand a lax attitude, the police won’t interfere. Lawmakers weaken the laws; the prosecution will not proceed.
In 2020, Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez ceased prosecuting people detained for sex work; the next year, Manhattan DA Cy Vance joined. Melinda Katz, the Queens district attorney, wants to focus on sex trafficking, which is wonderful but won’t preserve the neighborhood’s standard of living. After the state’s loitering for prostitution statute was repealed by the legislature in 2021, Queens state senator Jessica Ramos introduced bills to decriminalize prostitution and even legalize the sex industry.
New York’s elected officials continue to support the forces of disorder, whether it is through rampant stealing that has turned drugstores into battlegrounds, dangerous madmen prowling the streets and subways, or spreading open-air brothels.
