Accusation of Election Fraud

Rudy Giuliani was forced to pay $148,169,000 to two women whom he falsely accused of electoral fraud in the 2020 election. The former New York City mayor, a Donald Trump supporter, and a former personal lawyer were on trial this week in federal court in Washington, D.C. for defaming two Georgia election workers. While advancing former President Trump’s unfounded assertions that the 2020 election was stolen, Giuliani accused Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea “Shaye” Moss, of fraud. In August, U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell granted Freeman and Moss a default judgment. Giuliani was also sentenced to pay $270,000 in legal fees for Moss and Freeman

Moss said on Friday outside the courts that the past few years had been terrible. Every element of their lives—including their families, jobs, safety, and mental health—was altered by the flame that Giuliani started with those lies and gave so many others to keep blazing. And as they move forward and carry on seeking justice, they’re still attempting to rebuild. Their biggest wish is that no one else goes through anything similar to what they did—not an election worker, voter, school board member, or anybody else. Giuliani announced on Friday that he will appeal the decision.
