McCarthy acknowledged that Trump’s constant talk about retribution needed to stop when CBS News reporter Robert Costa challenged him. Costa noted that Trump had not backed down from his calls for retribution, raising concerns about Republican Party checks and balances.
McCarthy reiterated that Americans don’t want a retribution-driven presidency. He noted that a campaign to rebuild, restore, and renew the nation would likely be more popular.
