A man named Kaival Patel was found guilty of several charges, including plotting to commit wire fraud and laundering money in a $4 million health care fraud scheme.
According to The Ridgewood Blog, Paige Kaival, a financial advisor from West New York, was found guilty of 11 counts of stealing more than $4 million from public health insurance plans. The United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, Philip R. Sellinger, said that the case includes plot, money laundering, health care fraud, and wire fraud. Patel’s scam involved starting a company called ABC Healthy Living LLC so that he could sell chemical prescription drugs that people who worked for state and local governments and were qualified for good insurance payment plans could get. Patel paid off prison guards with money to get fake scripts, worked with a compounding pharmacy to make prices go up, and took part in financial deals to get money from the illegal plan. Patel is going to get jail time on April 10, 2024, for plans to commit wire fraud and health care fraud. He could spend up to twenty years in jail for each of these crimes. This finding is part of a bigger investigation that has found or pleaded guilty to the charges against about 47 people. The US Department of Labor, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation were all praised by US Attorney Sellinger for their work together.
