Survivors Speak Out: Emotional Testimonies at Oxford High School Shooter’s Sentencing Hearing

Ethan Crumbley’s punishment hearing included survivors of Michigan’s December 2021 Oxford High School tragedy. While the victims’ family urged the maximum penalty for Crumbley, 15, now 17, emotions ran high. Tate said Buck Myre’s family would never be whole without his kid.  The court may sentence Crumbley to life for the disaster.

Myre termed the last two years a “complete hell” for his family.

Buck Myre testified during Ethan Crumbley’s Oxford High School shooting sentence that his family wanted him to spend his entire life “rotting in a jail cell.” The judge, Kwame Rowe, assured survivors and loved ones that their opinions were heard. Crumbley may get a 25–40-year parole sentence instead of life without parole because of his age.

Crumbley’s Parole Bid and Parental Neglect in School Shooting Case

Defense attorney Paulette Michel Loftin argues for Ethan Crumbley’s parole post-therapy, but Judge Kwame Rowe, doubtful after expert testimony, questions the likelihood of rehabilitation.

Jennifer and James Crumbley, awaiting trial, face involuntary manslaughter charges for providing a gun and neglecting their son’s mental health.
