Ottawa Senators defeated Detroit 5-1 after Claude Giroux and Vladimir Tarasenko scored and assisted. A controversial hit from behind kills Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin, spoiling the game. Larkin stood up but left the game for medical assessment after Ottawa’s Mathieu Joseph cross-checked him in the head and neck. Coach Derek Lalonde did not comment post-game.
