The fourth Republican presidential primary debate of 2024 took place in Alabama on Wednesday night with four candidates. Megyn Kelly, Eliana Johnson, and Elizabeth Vargas moderated.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former U.S. ambassador to the UN, and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and entrepreneur and author Vivek Ramaswamy participated in the debate. Former President Donald Trump, the frontrunner, skipped the previous three debates. Christie warned Ramaswamy that this was “the fourth debate that you would be voted, in the first 20 minutes, as the most obnoxious blowhard” in the U.S. Ramaswamy advised Christie to “do everybody a favor: just walk yourself off that stage, enjoy a nice meal, and get out of this race.”
Christie does not oppose transgender policies for youngsters, Kelly said. Kelly stated, “The surgeries done on minors involve cutting off body parts,” even if they cannot smoke cigarettes. Children who switch from puberty suppressants to cross-sex hormones have a considerably higher chance of becoming sterile. She questioned how he could believe that parents should be permitted to authorize such treatments, “never mind child sterilization,” and if he was too out of touch to be the Republican nominee. Christie maintained that parents should make child-rearing decisions. DeSantis stated that parents cannot abuse their children. Haley declined to react to Ramaswamy, stating it wasn’t worth her time.
