Suspect Surrenders in the Authorities After Shooting a Lady in the Face

Snowflake-Taylor police officers responded to a home burglary near 7th and Main Streets around 6 a.m. on Saturday. Officers started assisting a 39-year-old woman who had been shot in the face by the perpetrator. She was brought to the hospital, and the suspect, according to authorities, fled the scene before officers arrived. Officers started looking for the suspect, who was described as a Hispanic man dressed in a black sweater and white trousers. During the search, authorities claimed a man in a nearby apartment told them his roommate was involved in the altercation and was inside their unit.

Officers evacuated surrounding homes, blocked off the street, surrounded the flat, and demanded that the suspect surrender. Hernandez surrendered to officers shortly after 8 a.m., and officers discovered a firearm while searching his flat. Hernandez, according to police, did not tell officers what prompted the burglary or shooting. Henandez was arrested and put into the Navajo County Jail on several charges, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and first-degree burglary. According to police, the person was transported to a Phoenix hospital and is currently in the intensive care unit. “We are sending our thoughts and prayers to the victim, and we hope they make a full and speedy recovery,” Snowflake-Taylor Police Chief Martin said.
