A confirmation from the police stated that a man had died in an officer involved shooting in east Wichita.
1 Dead in Officer Involved Shooting
According to Kansas, Chief Sullivan and the WPD confirmed officers were called to the 4200 E. Gilbert around 2 p.m. for a domestic violence report. When the police officials arrived at the scene, they made contact with the woman who reported the incident to 911 and pointed to the male suspect.
The Wichita Police Department (WPD) stated that the woman who called 911 stated that the suspect had made several suicidal statements. When they tried to search the suspect’s weapons, the suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it at the officers. One officer then fired at the suspect which resulted in a critical condition and later on died.

Chief Sullivan Expressed His Thoughts About the Officer Involved Shooting in East Wichita
According to KWCH, Chief Sullivan expressed his thoughts about the officer involved shooting incident which resulted in the demise of the suspect. In his statement, he said that the loss of life was going to have a very terrible impact on the suspect’s family and the involved officer in the shooting incident. Moreover, he also stated that the officer involved shooting was a tragic incident all around.
Currently, the investigation is handled by the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.
