With one week’s notice, caterers hosted this diplomatic luncheon. At a private Woodside meeting during this month’s APEC Summit, President Biden and President Xi discussed climate change, fentanyl, the supply chain, and AI.
Global Leaders’ Lunch on APEC Summit
What was on the other menu, inquiring minds? Who fed two global leaders and their diplomats? Taste Catering of Burlingame, a leading Bay Area caterer for luxury banquets, weddings, celebrations, and corporate events, designed the 1917 Filoli Historic House & Garden luncheon. She added the U.S. and China flag symbols on the White House-printed engraved invitations were hand-painted. The meal included Herbed Ricotta Ravioli with Artichoke Crisps as a starter, Tarragon-Roasted Heritage Chicken with Carolina Gold Rice Pilaf, Charred Broccolini and Brussels Sprouts as a main course, and Almond Meringue Cake with Praline Buttercream and Concord Grape Sauce for dessert. For the occasion, Filoli utilized its antique China sets and Tiffany cutlery of sterling silver.
Teskey said executive chef Aaron Placencia, pastry chef Vanessa Garrido, several Taste chefs, 12 servers, Helene Dubuc, Filoli’s events director, and Taste account exec Christopher Lee worked behind the scenes to serve just under 60 guests. The NDA Teskey and others signed covers many luncheon specifics. The Taste crew couldn’t tell us if Secretary of State Antony Blinken ate all his broccolini or if the Brussels sprouts were cooked with bacon, as most restaurants here do to entice Americans to eat them. Carl Sacks, executive director of Leading Caterers of America, praised them on CaterSource.com for “providing the catering for an event that brought together two of the three most powerful people in the world.
