Property Dispute Killing

In connection with the shooting, a woman thought to be the girlfriend of a guy suspected of killing three people and injuring a fourth in a property dispute in rural Colorado is being held. The Custer County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado announced the arrest of Nancy Rae Medina-Kochis, 50, in New Mexico on Thursday. It said she is suspected of being an accessory to a crime while the investigation into the shooting that killed Robert Geers, 63, his wife Beth Wade Geers, 73, and James Daulton, 58, near Westcliffe, Colorado, about 77 miles southwest of Colorado Springs, continues. Daulton’s wife, Patty Daulton, was also hurt.

According to court documents, while Robert Geers was speaking with a surveyor about the disputed property, their neighbor, Hanme Clark, screamed about trespassing and then began shooting. Clark was apprehended near Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Tuesday after nearly 25 hours on the run. According to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Reggie Foster, Medina-kochis was with him then and is thought to be his girlfriend as the suspect in the killing over the land dispute. A message left for the 11th District Judicial District Attorney’s office on whether prosecutors had filed charges against Clark or Medina-Kochis was not responded to immediately Friday. It is unknown whether lawyers represent Clark or Medina-Kochis.

Other neighbors who were not involved in the shooting have accused Clark of harassing them, denying them court-ordered access to a portion of his land, and displaying signs indicating that he was armed, according to court papers.
